Description
NDPC-SD held the 2009 Building Effective Practices in Dropout Prevention: A Summit for State and Local Education Agencies at Hilton Baltimore BWI in Baltimore, MD. The Summit was attended by state and local education teams from 22 states, OSEP, and 5 National TA Centers. The Summit served as an opportunity for states and LEAs with whom the Center has conducted targeted and intensive evidence-based technical assistance to share approaches and experiences as well as outcomes of initiatives and provided a chance for states just beginning dropout prevention efforts and states seeking to gain exposure to strategies and interventions that will help them design SPP improvement activities and meet targets for the dropout and graduation indicators. The Summit addressed and increased states’ content knowledge regarding dropout prevention, intervention and re-entry, strengthening their ability to design, implement, and scale-up effective dropout-prevention improvement activities and initiatives. A total of 170 participants attended the two day Summit.
